Coffee Store Celebrates Century in Business | WNEP.com ...

One local business has been employing people for a century now.

W.B. Griggs is celebrating 100 years in business in Lycoming County.

Stephen Griggs has been running this coffee bean and peanut roaster just about all his life. It is the centerpiece of the third-generation family business in Montoursville.

Until the 1990?s, W.B. Griggs was in downtown Williamsport. This month, the niche-driven business has hit the century mark as it continues to serve up food and drink day in, day out.

?Good customers, and a good product. A value intensive product. We roast coffee, not just grind it, get raw green beans in,? said Griggs.

While the roaster hummed in the background, the lunch crowd enjoyed their meals. Jody Cummings just moved back to the area with her family and said ?Griggs? is a part of being home.

?The kids always loved watching the peanuts being roasted over there. I like the coffee,? said Cummings.

Griggs? daughter Sarah said she is proud of the family business, knowing there is nowhere quite like it.

?It?s great because it?s smaller here, we get to know everyone. We know a lot of the customers.?
